Havoc

I was at the post office renewing my license today. The workers behind the counter were having small talks among themselves when attending to me; looking occasionally at me with arrogance and contempt.

I remember there was one time a clerk actually responded rudely when I had a query. And there was another clerk on the other end handling stamps and packages, barking at the costumers.

Post offices and other state run agencies are there to serve the people so why is there such vile work ethics?

Here’s my analysis

“When there’s monopoly, there’s inefficiency. When there’s no choice, there’s no quality”

Entrepreneurs are not allowed to establish competing agencies. Thus for society to get their driving license renewed or any such task, they have no choice but to go to the state agencies.

This principle applies to the personal level as well i.e. between husbands and wives or parents and children.

You see parents abusing their children all the time. Cause there’s monopoly. Children do not have the liberty to choose their preferred parents.

You see public school teachers abusing children because it’s expensive for parents to send them to private schools. How many parents have the means to do that, thus limiting choice.

You see husbands being abusive towards their wives or vice versa, because again there’s no choice (in this case there is actually choice to leave the relationship but partners chose not to)

Partners think that it is virtuous to stay with whom they marry till death even if their partner is dishonest and abusive. This notion essentially encourages corruption within the relationship.

The only way for there to be quality is choice. For people to have other alternatives available if they are not happy with existing ones invokes quality.

Well, that’s my rant for the day.

Here’s another composition of mine from my archives. It did not have a title. So I played the MP3 back to listen and "Havoc" just came to mind.
